Media Release from Shadow Minister for Health Bill Yan MLA and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Steven Edgington MLA:
The CLP is backing better health for the residents of the Gulf region by announcing a CLP Government would deliver a new health centre for Borroloola.
Shadow Health Minister Bill Yan said the new health centre at Borroloola forms part of the CLP’s Plan for Health, and would advance primary health care across the Gulf area and make available improved care closer to home for locals.
“The CLP will deliver better health outcomes for people living in the bush starting with this new $20 million new health centre for Borroloola. Health centres in communities are vital in assisting to meet the health needs of local residents and those living across the Gulf region will benefit with better services,” Mr Yan said.
The new Borroloola health care centre will considerably increase the availability of health services in the region, with consulting rooms, emergency bays, dental facilities, x-ray facilities, a hearing booth, renal facilities and a morgue.
Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Steven Edgington said the new health centre would assist staff to deliver better patient outcomes with updated facilities and contemporary equipment.
“Only the CLP can be trusted to provide better services for the bush after 8 years of Labor neglect,” Mr Edgington said.
Labor has normalised disaster across health with wait times for surgery blowing out, assaults on healthcare workers on top of never-ending code yellows at Royal Darwin Hospital, with 11 in 2023/24 so far and 35 Code yellows in 8 years.
A CLP Government will reduce crime, rebuild our economy and restore our lifestyle.
