Media release from the Shadow Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries, Joshua Burgoyne:
We learned yesterday evening that role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer is still vacant after months and months.
Shadow Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries Joshua Burgoyne said, “This is a vital position to deliver on the important objectives for our Agriculture industry and apparently not a priority for Labor.”
“The Territory Government recently released a shiny document stating that they hope to reach a $2 Billion Agriculture sector by 2030 but they have no-one to lead the charge.”
“The Opposition has further concerns on how this $2 Billion Agriculture economy will ever be reached when proponents are challenged in court for approved land clearing permits with little to no support from the Government.”
“When it comes to Labor and Agriculture, like many other industries, Labor makes it incredibly difficulty to do business and cannot provide certainty to investors wanting to grow and produce here in the Territory.”
“The CLP will take down Labor’s closed for business sign on our economy, reduce red tape and send a message to investors that the Territory is the place where you want to do business.”
