Steve moved to the Northern Territory in 1988 to join the Territory Police Force, in his career that also included time with the Australian and NT Governments. He’s lived and worked in Darwin, Alice Springs, Yulara, Ali Curung, Tennant Creek, Elliott, Borroloola, Beswick and Barunga.
Steve’s been married to Nicci for 31 years, they have four adult children with three now living and working in Tennant Creek in Administration, as a Nurse and as an Electrician.
As the former Mayor of the Barkly Council, he is passionate about putting Barkly back on the map and has initiated the Barkly Regional Deal to address community priorities including social, economic, culture and place-making.
Steve is a member of Rotary and regularly volunteers to help and support community events, serving as President of the Barkly AFL from 2014 to 2015 and as an accredited Umpire and member of the AFLNT Barkly Advisory Committee.
“I have listened carefully and understand the issues that matter to people in the Barkly. As a former police officer, I know what’s needed to tackle crime and keep our children safe”
I’m a fierce advocate for the Barkly and won’t stand for Labor’s continual failure to implement the Barkly Regional Deal.
We have to reduce crime, protect our environment, ensure our communities are safe and healthy and have access to community infrastructure, housing, education, sport and recreation.”
